Compassionate Communication 2.0 ——-> For Allies – Oct 20,21 with Wareen Hooley

Warren Hooley is a 32-year old man from the Syilx (Okanagan) Territory which is now known as Penticton, British Columbia. Currently living in Vancouver BC, Warren has passionately chosen a career of facilitating groups and delivering workshops on the topics of Facilitation, Team building, Healthy Masculinity and Compassionate Communication for the past 8 years.

“Emotional intelligence has been a long journey for me. Both my parents struggled with emotions in their own way and i not only inherited this genetically but was also raised on it. Combine this with being brought up in a western cultural context where i was frequently made fun of when i expressed vulnerability or tried to be authentically me, needless to say I had big inner and outer barriers to overcome.

6 years ago I couldn’t name a single body sensation if someone asked me, i hadn’t cried in about two decades and had built up a myriad strategies to escape and cope with my daily emotions. It wasn’t until being introduced to my own trauma through the lense of interpersonal neurobiology that I really opened my mind and eventually…my heart 🙂

After 6 years of dedicated practice and healing work, i feel like I’m finally living my life the way i was naturally designed to, before all the trauma and conditioning from my upbringing.

Its this work that i want to bring to others. To build communities, friendships, relationships that are emotionally liberated and fully capable of deep meaningful authentic connection.”

‘Classic’ Compassionate Communication also commonly known as ‘Nonviolent Communication’ was created by the late Marshall Rosenberg. It is a process of connecting to the wells of our emotional world. To use our “hearts compass” to support us in making choices moment to moment, to build the capacity to share our emotions through honest expression, to listen with empathy to the truth of another and overall build a life that’s connected to our deepest values.

What i like to call ‘Compassionate Communication 2.0’ for me adds another layer of depth and empowerment. Supported by the accumulated work of Sarah Peyton, an interpersonal neurobiology and trauma healing expert, it looks at the inner workings of how our brain, nervous systems and bodies interact with each other. One main aspect of Sarah’s work is the concept of “resonance”, which can be defined as the combination of both warmth (care, empathy, love) and precision (understanding, clarity, acknowledgement). The combination of warmth and precision activates both hemispheres of the brain and is shown through numerous studies to be the most effective key to calming the activated nervous system. This resonance initiates your brain, body and heart to integrate your unconscious past traumatic memories into your conscious understanding of yourself and the world around you. Thus greatly supporting the healing of trauma ♥

This workshop is literally…. about getting to know yourself from the inside out.

I’m asking for $150 per person. I’m open to finding alternative exchanges for those who simply can’t afford this. Exchange of service, use of space, helping out in some way, trading some kind of resource etc are all welcome 🙂

A couple scholorships may be available as well if the circumstances call for it ^_^


Daily schedule:

9am – Morning session – 1.5 hr
Break – 20 min
2nd Morning session – 1.5 hr
12:20pm – Lunch – 1 hr
Afternoon session – 1.5 hr
Break – 20 min
2nd afternoon session – 1.5 hr
4:40pm – Closing – 20 min
